Drake's Biography

Aubrey Drake Graham, currently 22 years of age, was born on October 24th 1986 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He is the son of an African-American father, Dennis Graham, and a white Jewish Canadian mother. He is a singer, rapper and Canadian actor. As a rapper, he performs under his middle name Drake, and is often billed as the new version of "The Fresh Prince". His parents divorced when he was five, and he was raised by his mother in Toronto's wealthy Forest Hill neighborhood where he attended an elementary school at Forest Hill Public School, and high school at Forest Hill Collegiate Institute, where he began acting, but did not graduate. He also spent many summers with his father in Memphis, Tennessee. Drake began his career in 2001, starring as Jimmy Brooks in the TV series, Degrassi: The Next Generation. His role on the show ended in 2009, when producers cut the entire Degrassi cast for a new group of actors/actresses. In February 2006, Drake released his first mix-tape titled, "Room for Improvement". It was made available via his website and official MySpace page. From the success of his first mix-tape, he later began releasing more, capitalizing from the buzz. In 2007, he released Comeback Season to much critical acclaim and praise. In 2007 he became the first unsigned Canadian rapper to have his music video featured on BET, when his first single, "Replacement Girl" was featured as the "Joint of the Day" in April 2007. From here on out, he became much more popular doing his first song with Lil Wayne; a remix of the already popular song "Man of the Year." In 2008, he released Heartbreak Drake, of course it was another great mix-tape gaining him more popularity. So Far Gone, was released in 2009 which features various artists including Lil Wayne and members of Young Money. Drake continued to recognize a close affiliation with Lil Wayne's Young Money Entertainment, then he officially signed with the record label in June, 2009. It was on June 29, 2009 that it was confirmed Drake signed a record deal with Cash Money/Universal/Motown. His first studio album, Thank Me Later, is expected to be released on the label in late 2009, and has confirmed collaborations with the likes of Kanye West, Jay-Z, and Lil Wayne. Drake would like to further his career and still wants to do more serious acting. We know he'll do great!

Drake is currently rumored to be dating Rihanna. After online rumors swirled stating that Drake was in a relationship with Rihanna, both quickly denied. With statements from Drake saying, "We're just good friends". I a later, more recent interview that was in Hyde Park, London, he was asked, "Is the situation with you and Rihanna just work?", Drake replied with, "Right now, like out here it's just work. Me and Rihanna are just me and Rihanna... and uh she's great man, she's a great person definitely"! He was also questioned about rumors that they were seen kissing and he laughed saying, "You know we've been in the same vicinity, we're young you know." In 2008, Drake spoke about his past relationships on a song called "Deceiving", using each verse to address different women. Verse 1, he spoke about video-model Nadia Edwards. In Verse 3, he spoke about actress Alisha Phillips. In Verse 2 he spoke about an "ex" Keshia Chanté, also referencing Chanté's mother, Tessa. Stating : "When I say I'm serious, you claim you're only teasing" and "What up Tessa? I love you like my own mama, and your daughters getting grown mama, and me, I'm just here working, waiting, patient for her to be ready for love and leave alone drama". In May 2009, Drake finally speaks with Much Music about his song "Deceiving" and addressed speculation of his past relationship with Chanté : "Would I call Keshia Chanté an ex? I'd be proud to say she is an ex. I'm proud to say we had our time, when we were, like 16 years old. She's great. She's one of the first people in the industry that I met, we just connected." In June 2009, Drake also adresses his love for Chanté in two remixes to Chanté song "Fallen".
